FTTH, FTN, FTTP Recent Developments

CommScope announced the addition of Fiber to the Home 2020 as part of CommScope Inc. (NASDAQ: HLIT) Fiber to the Home (FTTN) initiative. NASdaq "HLIT" today announced that it is working with commScope, Inc. to ensure that the product provides cable operators with an integrated, fast, cost-effective and high-performance fiber optic network solution. The two companies, the world's largest provider of fiber optic cables, have teamed up to deliver the 1830 Optical Network Extender One. Sources: 3, 8, 11

The BrightPath CommScope system is tailored to the specific needs of cable operators and is compatible with existing fiber-to-fiber (FTTN) and fiber-to-home (FTTH) networks. In the case of a fibre optic node, or FTN, the fibre optic ends before the final connection is made with the existing copper or coaxial cable. The Comm-Scope's Bright-path system, the 1830 Optical Network Extender One, is a high speed, low cost, high bandwidth fiber network solution that exists as part of the company's high-performance fiber network solutions. Fiber to a Home (FTTH), which means that the fiber connection runs through the entire cable network, providing maximum bandwidth for the maximum possible bandwidth in a single connection. Sources: 3, 9

FTN is a passive optical network architecture (PON) that is normally used to transfer traffic between multiple customers over the same fiber. Unlike FTTP, FTTN often uses the existing coaxial or twisted pair infrastructure to provide last-mile services, and is therefore less costly to implement. Sources: 0, 6

Combined with the growing demand for Internet connections, network developers can justify the upfront investment required to build a network on an FTTH network, while combining the benefits of fast, low latency and high bandwidth with the cost savings of a fiber-optic network. FTTx, MDU and SFU Solutions describe a product line that provides a range of preconfigured solutions, including fiber-to-node (FTTP), fiber-to-home (FTL) and cables to serve different installation environments. These applications allow communications service providers to combine data automation and fiber management to create networks that promote efficiency and growth. If you are preparing to build an FTT network and would like to learn more about how fiber optic and network management software can support fiber development in the long term, please contact our team for more information. Sources: 4, 7, 11

The solution helps to increase the return on a Fiber Subscriber on an FTTx network that pays for itself by investing in a Fiber-to-the-Node (FTTP) or FTL (FTC) network. Sources: 7

The life of the technology is long, and the life expectancy of underground cables is at least 25 years. FTTH is an attractive solution for network builders because nuclear fibre technologies are future-proof, i.e. they will be able to support broadband demand in the foreseeable future. In this landscape, we offer world-class fiber optic solutions that enable cooperatives to meet the accelerated milestones required for financing. Sources: 4, 6, 10

The Internet of Things and AI applications will grow enormously, forcing carriers to keep using fiber. As cable operators continue to expand their networks, they will switch specifically to FTTH solutions. Customers in the community could already see Golden West contractors and technicians preparing for the construction phase of FTth. Sources: 1, 4, 12

Portugal Telecom plans to complete the first phase of its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the country by 2020. This will allow the city of Porto, Portugal's second largest city and home to more than 30 million people, to be connected by fibre optic cables. Sources: 0, 13

Asia is currently leading the way in FTTH deployment, with more than 225 million people having direct fibre broadband internet access by the end of 2017. Open Fiber is the world's largest fiber network with over 9 million connections to over 1.5 billion homes and businesses in over 100 countries. Tens of millions of additional households are expected to subscribe to FTT services in the near future. By the end of 2018, more than half of the countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) had direct fiber broadband access, according to the World Economic Forum. Sources: 4, 8

OFS provides a comprehensive solution that helps service providers achieve maximum performance and reliability in a wide range of environments, including previously unreachable environments. FTTH is the only networking option that can provide the information - an economy and communities that demand future economic growth. The new solution also enables cable operators to offer a telecommunications-based FTth architecture as a true fiber-optic cable solution. In addition to the underlying fiber optic cable technology, FT TH offers the best of both worlds, offering high speed, low latency, high capacity and high reliability. Sources: 3, 4, 5, 7

Shi believes that fiber is the best transmission medium for P2MP architectures and he believes that it is a key component of Nokia's open fiber strategy. He said: "We are proud to have Open Fiber as part of our strategy to expand Nokia into the Gigabit Society and into a new era. Shiyang Shi, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Nokia, said: "I believe that fibre is the good medium for transmitting the P1MP architecture.
